Unexpected Item in the Bagging Area

Art is too often expected to exist in a realm of of a higher stature, to gently remind society of its shortcomings, to be aesthetically beautiful, to be idealistic and sublime. This event is about resisting expectations, identifying with the status quo and presenting you with art as commodity.

This is an exploration of brand identity in a fine art context utilising the language of visual merchandising, promotional aesthetics and digital marketing. Expect various independently produced merchandise designed by the artists of Gum Collective which will be available for purchase on the night.
