In Through the Laundromat and Out Through the Drain Pipe is an exhibition created by Sadbh O’Brien in the months during lockdown. This online exhibition is comprised of a series of water colours, oil paintings and soft sculpture, each as a response to the shift in lifestyle which has led us to rely more than ever on the internet and media channels. As the world became more changeable and our external environment increasingly inhospitable, internal domestic confinement led to the internet as a tool of both escape and obsessive compulsion, relieved by moments of hope through interaction with the natural world.
The artist left New York in early April at the height of the breakout of Covid-19 and returned to Ireland. The images below are set up in the artist’s Utility & Laundry room. All works are available for purchase.
